Like any other girl, blemishes and eye bags are mostly the common issues I have been struggling to fix for ages. Luckily, I don’t have issues with acne. However, random hormonal caused pimples occur which cause random blemishes whenever the dry up. I have also been a victim of insomnia and stress-related sleep issues for the past decade and it causes my eyes to be quite puffy. Even if I sleep early in the past year, I still have puffy eyes. I have tried all the recommendations by friends and family members such as tea tree oil, cucumber, etc. None really gave me a satisfactory result. Sadly, I am not much of a fan of dermatology check-ups. Not that I find it a bit costly, I also don’t find time to go to one.
One time, I noticed a colleague of mine who had been having issues with puffy eyes, having lesser eye bags lately. I was keen to know what she was doing. She also has some issues sleeping especially she’s a mother of a lovely and energetic toddler. She told me she has been using sunflower seed oil. It was the first time I heard that there was one actually. She recommended me to use it and so I did. I ordered a small bottle of sunflower seed oil myself. I took the smallest bottle just to try out. It may seem to be a bit pricey for a small bottle but hey, it’s worth a try.
I tried it for a week and it seems to give me positive results. My puffy eyes suddenly disappear, but I still have dark circles around my eyes. I continued to use it until my eyes gradually improved. I started using it with the rest of my face to try out. I used to put night cream on it but since I ran out of one, I wanted to see if it would also remove the blemishes I have. My colleague also mentioned she use it for the rest of her face. Amazingly, my blemishes started to lighten little by little.
This caused me to research online further of what are the other benefits of this product. Below are the other noted benefits which I gathered online.
Vitamins and Minerals
According to research, this particular oil essence contains a lot of beneficial vitamins and minerals. Below are just a few that you can get from using this oil:
- Vitamin E
- Vitamin K
- various fatty acids such as palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, lecithin and linoleic acid.
Skin Health Benefits
For a tropical country like the Philippines, skin irritations and diseases are quite common due to the humidity and heat. It is rich with Vitamin E which is a very important factor when it comes to skin health. It helps our skin regenerate any damaged cells and improves its overall health components. This explains why blemishes can improve its colour in time. It may not be an instant thing but it can do the trick. It can also be used as a massaging oil for kids. It also helps cure Athlete’s foot problems. Due to its organic components, the skin easily absorbs its nutrients which again heals those dying skin cells and generate a new. It also serves as an organic moisturizer. So if you have sensitive skin and over-the-counter moisturizers don’t give you a good feeling, why not try this one out?
Although there is specified proof that it can lower cholesterol levels in certain people such as those who have cardiovascular diseases, there are research studies that it can lower the total cholesterol and “bad” low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in people with high cholesterol. This means that it can control the level of bad cholesterol in the body but only at a certain level. In this matter, some other organic oils such as the olive oil can perform better.
Hair Health Benefits
Most oils, in general, help the hair shine and moisturize. Any dry and frizzy hair can get a total makeover in a few drops per day. Sunflower seed oil, however, considering the high Vitamin E it contains, can also help dry scalp heal. Dry scalp can cause various hair issues such as dandruff and hair loss. With this said, applying a few drops on your hair while massaging it can give you the right protection your hair and scalp needs. Its light texture in comparison to other oil substance makes it easier to be absorbed. Not to mention it would not give you that heavy feeling once you applied it. It just feels like hair Vitamins applied to your hair. No greasy feeling at all. At certain studies showed that it can help stimulates hair growth as well. How lovely isn’t it?
Boost Immune System
This oil essence does not only contain a high amount of Vitamin E, but it also carries a great number of antioxidants that help our body fight bad bacteria and common viruses. It helps our body fight infections and inflammation. Wow talking about unsung heroes. Cool huh?!
While we are not aware, some common cooking oils actually do us more harm than charms. Some of them actually contain monounsaturated fats which are difficult for the digestive tract to absorb. So if there are any beneficial substance in these oils, it is quite difficult for the body to easily absorb. Since sunflower seed oil is light, absorption is quite easy for your body.
It’s quite awesome to know how good it is for your body, we always have to be cautious. It may have been very beneficial in such cases above, but there are a few things you need to remember according to WebMD:
- Pregnancy and Breast feeding Precautiouns
- Allergic reactions
In general, it is still safe to consult your physician first before taking up such items. I have shared this to everyone for people to know what you can possibly get from it. It is best to know your limits on experimenting on such product especially for those who have sensitive health issues. This product can be a bit expensive and hard to find too. There are a few stores who sell them. The one I use is from Human Heart Nature. I do suggest for you to check for the reviews of products that you see online to know if they are considered as a great product or not.
